Quick answer

  • Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in with your Google account. There is no separate Search Console password.
  • If your website is missing, you are usually signed in with a different Google account, or nobody has added you to the property yet.
  • An owner adds people in Settings → Users and permissions. A brand-new website has to be added and verified first.

How to log in to Search Console

  1. Open search.google.com/search-console in your browser.
  2. Choose Start now and sign in with the Google account that has access to your website.
  3. Use the property selector at the top left to choose the website you want to see.

Search Console uses your normal Google account, the same one you use for Gmail or Google Analytics. It has no separate username or password, so a password reset happens in your Google account, not in Search Console.

Signed in, but your website isn’t there

Search Console calls each website a property. If the selector is empty or asks you to add a property, the account you used doesn’t have access to the website yet. Check these in order:

Owner, full user or restricted user

What you can do after logging in depends on your permission level for that property:

Owners are either verified (they placed a verification token) or delegated (added by a verified owner). A property needs at least one verified owner.

To add someone, an owner opens Settings → Users and permissions → Add user, enters the person’s Google account email and picks a permission. The new user signs in with that Google account and the property appears in their selector.

If access suddenly disappears

  • If you were a verified owner, your verification token may have been removed, for example a DNS record deleted during a hosting change or an HTML tag dropped in a redesign. Put it back, then verify again.
  • If you were a delegated owner or user, an owner may have removed you. Ask a current owner to add you again.
  • If every verified owner loses verification, all remaining users and delegated owners lose access after a grace period. Data keeps being collected, and access returns once someone verifies ownership again.

Read your reports without logging in each time

Once you can see your property, you can also connect it to an AI assistant. HyperGSC connects the Google account you just used, with read-only access, to ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Cursor. You can then ask for your top pages, falling queries or a URL’s index status in a chat instead of clicking through reports.
